The 6th district gives you something the others don't: a huge garden, the Luxembourg, part of it being also gardens of the Senat which entrance is located in Vaugirard street . This street is the longest in Paris coming from Porte de Versailles in the 15th and going north up to Saint Michel boulevard . Facing the Senat you will go on the Odeon Square with its renowned theater whiwh after years of renovation reopened in 2006. This district is famous for several reasons: Saint Germain des près because of Jean Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir and all the brilliant french intellectuals, its two “cafés” Deux Magots and Café de Flore, Saint André des Arts square, Saint Benoit and du Four streets. Famous also thanks to its schools and universities, Law school of Assas, Medicine school in the same name street, Beaux Arts school and pharmacy university.
All these places full of History, stories and memory, are so animated in the evening with its bars and restaurants in Buci or saint andré des Arts streets, Brasseries in Seine street, shops in Rennes street or on Raspail or saint Germain Boulevard that if you go strolling there as a tourist will gave you the strongest feeling about the “Lights city”.
Looking for antics, paintings or sculpture, you could go on the Seine river bank where dozens of antics shop are awaiting.
