The 5th district is known as the Student's district also as the Latin Quarte because students in the old time use to learn latin end greek litterature at Sorbonne. On its territory bordered by the Saint Michel boulevard which starts at the same name fountain,near the Seine River, you will find two of the best high school and colleges of Paris Henri IV and Louis le Grand. In addition, among others, Jussieu University (called now diderot) closed for asbestos reasons, Sorbonne literature university, law school, Ecole Normale Supérieure, the building formerly place for Ecole Polytechnique and now Ministry of Technologic research, Arts Deco school , public works school and so on.
Starting from the banks of the Seine river, facing Austerlitz railways station, the magnificent Jardin des Plantes , the heart of which stays the Natural History national museum with its dinosaurus bones. Going out from the museum, go have some oriental pastries and tea at the Paris Grande mosquee. You could also go to the IMA (Arabic world institute) to discover one of the numerous exhibition.
At the center of the district , facing the 5th city hall, the Pantheon where are buried the French famous men , among them Jean Jaures or Victor Hugo.
Get some time left, go have a lok at the arenas de Lutece , the entrance of which is hidden behind a large door in Monge street.
