This part of Paris, added to the three other first district s are the heart of the Historical Paris. Strolling around you cold even see some ruins of the surrounding walls dating from capetian time.
In this district ,years ago, were what was called the Halles which was the biggest food Market in France. It moved away to Rungis ,thirty years ago and for the memory one of the building was dismantled and set again in the town of Nogent sur marne in the East surburb. On the place it was erected, you will find now the biggest commercial center in Paris called the Forum. You will find there all the famous trademarks in garments, shoes and perfumes in addition to a large auditorium for classical music and movie theaters.
The most beautiful museum in the whole world is set in this district: Louvre museum and its big pyramid “crazy architectural concept” of François Miterrand at its inception, which is one of the entrance to the museum.
In the south of the district , on the Cité Island, the oldest part of it which still has a street called Lutece street , gallic name of Paris, you will find the Justice Court with the Holly Chapel, the Trade Court on the Bank of the Seine. Futher to the west, along Rivoli street and just before getting to the Concorde circle, on your right you may want to have a drink in the Tuileries Garden famous for its Orangerie museum and its Impressionist painters exhibition.
Finally, in the center of this small district walking along Louvre Street, you will notice the Trade Market building.
For those who came in Paris a few years ago, they will remember on the Rivoli street where hundreds of shops are located this five buildings formerly oe of the largest department store of Paris called Samaritaine , famous for one of its movie ad with “king Kong”. Unfortunately this department store is now closed and it will probably be replaced by a commercial center
